A real estate firm’s online advertising must include the licensed name of the firm, the city, and state where the firm’s main office is located, and the jurisdiction(s) in which the firm is licensed.
When individual agents or associate brokers advertise their services or listed properties online, such advertisements must include the agent’s licensed name, the name of the firm, the city and state of the office where their license in assigned and the jurisdiction(s) where the agent holds a license. The firm’s licensed name must be displayed on all advertising. Advertising of real estate services or listed property in a limited electronic media such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram must include all required disclosures or a link to a web page, no more than one click away, where the required disclosure information can be viewed.
Fair Housing Considerations
According to the VA Fair Housing Board “All advertising of residential real estate for sale, rent, or financing should contain an equal housing opportunity logotype, statement, or slogan as a means of educating the home-seeking public that the property is available to all persons regardless of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, elderliness, or national origin. The choice of logotype, statement, or slogan will depend on the type of media used (visual or auditory) and, in space advertising, on the size of the advertisement.
