Increasing traffic to your business website is just a few clicks away
Facebook has a staggering 700 million users worldwide – almost 350 million users in North America alone. To capitalize on the popularity of Facebook, all real estate agents and brokers need to build a strong presence with an account dedicated to your business – especially if you are just breaking into the real estate business.
Facebook can put your business in front of thousands or millions of targeted users who may become future leads and clients. The first critical step is to set up a Facebook Business Page (aka fan page) and optimize it for SEO to reach a larger number of users.
Set up Your Business Page
From your personal page, click “create a page” either on the left menu bar or the drop down from the top menu.

Follow through an easy series of steps to set up your page:
- Select your Page type. The best selection is “Local Business or Place” because that is the only page type that offers “Real Estate” as a business category.

- Select your business category – Real Estate.
- Upload your profile picture. It is best to use a professional-looking head shot of yourself.
- Complete your company information.
- Add a cover photo
**Remember, A Business page is a separate entity from your personal page and must comply with VREB Advertising Regulations for electronic Media.
Your Facebook Business Page must contain:
- Licensee name
- Firm Name
- City and State in which the licensee’s place of business is located
- Jurisdiction in which licensee holds a license, active or not (COE Article 12)
Make the Most of your Business Page
Here are some easy methods to optimize your Facebook Business Page for SEO:
- Choose a Brandable Name. Tip: The first word within your Facebook Business Page title is given the most importance by Google.
- Use keywords throughout your page. Tip: The first 18 characters of your posts serve as the meta title and metal description for search engines.
- Create a Custom Facebook URL
- Backlink to your Facebook Business page (from other social networking sites, blogs, etc.)
