RPAC Releases Slate of Endorsements for the General Election

September 24, 2015

After three days of interviews, the Richmond REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) released its slate of endorsements for the General Election on November 3, 2015. The RPAC Trustees interviewed candidates for the Virginia House and Senate, candidates for County Boards of Supervisors, and County School Boards.

For the Virginia Senate, RPAC has endorsed Dan Gecker in the 10th District, Amanda Chase in the 11th District, and Dr. Siobhan Dunnavant in the 12th District. Mrs. Chase and Dr. Dunnavant demonstrate a strong commitment to a business friendly economy in the Richmond region and Virginia; they also bring firsthand, small business experience. Mr. Gecker possesses a detailed understanding of smart planning and the real estate industry. All three candidates will be a strong voice on REALTOR® issues.

On the House of Delegates side, Delegate Lamont Bagby earned RPAC’s endorsement in the 74th House District. Del. Bagby’s time on the Henrico School Board provides him with a unique understanding of the interconnectedness of schools, real estate, and the economy.

In Henrico, RPAC endorsed Supervisor Dick Glover in his re-election campaign. Mr. Glover’s record on the Board of Supervisors shows his willingness to work with REALTORS® and he brings a wealth of experience to the Board. The Trustees also issued an endorsement of Eric Rohnacher in the Three Chopt District. His enthusiasm and vision for the District aligns with REALTOR® party interests.

Powhatan Supervisors Bill Melton, Larry Nordvig, and Carson Tucker earned endorsements from RPAC. All three are running for re-election; they bring experience and reason to the Board.  Challengers Russ Holland and Angie Cabell received endorsements from RPAC as well.

On the Chesterfield School Board, RPAC endorsed incumbents Carrie Coyner and Dianne Smith. For the open seats, Jon Erbach, Javaid Siddiqi, and Rob Thompson received endorsements. Chesterfield Schools are facing some growing pains and the previously mentioned candidates will bring passion, knowledge, and creativity to the Board.

Finally, RPAC is also re-affirming the previous endorsements of a large number of incumbents on the local and state level, who have proven themselves to be REALTOR® advocates. A full list of endorsees can be found below.

Chairwoman of the RPAC Trustees, Mary K. McDonald said, “The Trustees are very pleased with this year’s endorsement slate. This is a critical election year in the Richmond region, on both a state and local level; we feel that these candidates are best equipped to meet the challenges faced in the area and are excited to work with all of them in the coming years.”
